A recent article in Brisbane's Courier Mail suggested the Birth Centre at Brisbane's Royal Hospital for Woman and Children was under threat of closure as a result of findings in an internal audit of the centre. To read the article go to http://www.news.com.au/couriermail/story/0,23739,23424688-3102,00.html. Friends of the Birth Centre is very concerned about the article because it yet again and unfairly calls into question the quality of care offered at the Birth Centre. Such attacks are rarely, if ever launched at other forms of maternity care in Brisbane. Friends of the Birth Centre is actively defending the claims in the article and we invite all members to contribute their comments and stories of their experiences at the Birth Centre. In addition, we ask each of our memembers to contribute a letter to the editor of the Courier Mail via this link: http://news.com.au/couriermail/editorial/letter/ You mail also like to forward a copy of your letter to your local MP. To read a copy of the official press release in response to the article, click here. Please send a copy of any such letters to fbc as well (
